Anyone, with a Musixmatch account, can contribute to its lyrics catalogue in multiple ways.
With the help of our Community we want to make available for anyone the freshest new songs lyrics and albums. We’re also constantly trying to grow our database by adding old songs too. Whenever you see that a song has missing lyrics, click Add lyrics, write down the lyrics and save it.
Great places to find missing lyrics to add include:
- Contribute page: Find out which missing lyrics we recommend you to add from your personalized list.
- Musixmatch Discussions: Forum Managers and contributors post if they need team members.
If you are new to Musixmatch your lyrics will need to be approved by other users before they get published. You can invite your friends to review your lyrics by sharing the Musixmatch link via your favourite social media channel. When your lyrics have been approved by the community, they will appear online and will be ready to be enjoyed by everybody.
We also need your effort and dedication to style all the lyrics properly so it’ll be easy for other users to synchronize them in time with music. Help us to maintain the following lyric formatting:
Comments like "intro", "verse", "bridge", "chorus", "outro", "spoken", etc should be replaced with an empty row.
- Transcribe all lyrics as the artist says them.
- Comments like "repeat 2 times", "repeat chorus or verse", etc should be removed and the part of the lyrics involved should be repeated accordingly.
- All not spoken part like "Ohh", "Ahaaha", "NaNaNa", etc should be kept only if essential part of the lyrics.
- The names of performers inside the lyrics should be avoided/removed, even when indicating a specific portion sung by the artist.
- Lyrics need to be formatted properly for the right line by line synchronization.
Please remember to take care of fixing uncorrected accented characters/words
- Proper names (of persons, places, or certain special things) should be capitalized
- Don’t capitalize every word
- Always use apostrophes when writing contractions
- Break transcriptions up into individual lines
Lyrics which show Review changes are songs which have had lyrics added or updated by users in our community which are different from those currently shown online. With Review changes we ask the contributors, through a poll, to judge and vote on whether the changes that have been proposed are correct.
If the vote for the revised lyrics — once the poll is closed — is positive the song will be updated, if the changes are rejected we will keep the original version of the lyrics.
Synchronizing songs is easy and only asks you have a sense of rhythm. You can choose to either improve the synchronisation of a song, or to synchronise songs that haven’t yet been done following these simple steps on our iOS or Android app.
